The Northside Worship Teams and Creative Arts Teams are responsible for providing relevant and inspirational worship services that are consistent with the mission, values, and vision of the gospel of Jesus Christ and Northside Community Church.
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is true worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
~Romans 12:1-2~
Responsibilities
- Organizing, Preparing, and Leading Worship services that extends God’s love in a visible way, leads people to Christ, and encourages righteous, grace-filled living in a real, applicable way. In essence, celebrating the very presence of God in the Holy Spirit throughout the community of believers.
- Establish Format, develop personnel, and maintain supplies and equipment for all basic aspects of Sunday morning worship: Order of Service, Scripture Reading, Prayer, Communion music, Invitation, Offertory, and Closing Song.
- Arranging and coordinating additional worship components (dance, drama, art, spoken word, testimony, video, congregational readings, Scripture readings) that will enhance community within the worship service.
- Organizing, preparing, and leading weekly Sunday morning worship music.
- Communicating with Lead Pastor and Pastor of Worship in developing monthly, quarterly, and/or yearly worship and study theme focus.
Key Questions to Consider:
- What is worship and what are the characteristics and qualities of a church that understands this and demonstrates it?
Worship is celebrating the Presence of God and is demonstrated through those who have accepted the Holy Spirit of God and live out their love for God and others in community, work, and Truth (word and action). ~1 John 3:18~
- What are the minimum standards for a church that truly grasps the concept and practice of worship as the people of God?
A community of those being led by the Holy Spirit in loving each other how they deserve to be loved in light of Christ and who celebrate the presence of God by their meeting together. A community who will engage with one another in whatever avenue (music, drama, preaching, teaching, fellowship, meals, ministries, study, prayer, mission, outreach, liturgy, etc.) developed in the congregation for worshiping God and serving each other communally.
- If you were evaluating a church ministry on its worship environment, what would you look for and why?
The community’s collaborated involvement in proclaiming, encouraging, praying, studying, assimilating, discipling, and engaging each other to live out the kingdom of God through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. This would be essential for those on the whom the Holy Spirit has come upon, because it proclaims the good news of the kingdom of God through the actions of Christ here on earth (Luke 4). Through worship we also celebrate the hope of the Church (the body of Christ) which is the resurrection of our bodies to full communion with God at the return of Christ.
