Volunteer

We actively encourage our partners to join one or more of our ministry teams. Getting involved means you'll experience the blessings of using your God-given talents and spiritual gifts to help and encourage others.

There is no greater joy than to know you've made a difference in the lives of people around you. Please prayerfully consider what you might do as you join us in ministering to the Eastern Wake County area.

Current Ministry & Volunteer Opportunities

Bulletin Stuffers

The purpose of this team is to make information available to the people of Northside Community through bulletins for weekend services and to support the administrative staff. This group of men, women, and children collate all inserts for the weekly bulletin and place them in the bulletin cover, and also fold and place flyers on the chairs. We have a good time of fellowship with lots of fun and laughter while performing this important job.

Greeters / Ushers

"Warmly welcome each other into the church, just as Christ has welcomed you!"
Romans 15:7

Greeters

The friendly people of Northside Church who serve as Greeters play a vital role in our Sunday services. A warm greeting – a welcoming smile, a handshake, or a hug – helps prepare hearts of partners and guests with a feeling of acceptance and belonging. Greeters, who welcome people outside before they enter the building, give the first impression of Northside and contribute in the process of bringing people to worship and receiving the Word of God. Our greeters are outgoing, like to shake hands and give hugs, and love to talk to people.

Ushers

Ushers serve at the worship service by helping with the following responsibilities:
  • Assisting with any seating type problems
  • Collecting the offering during the service
  • Praying and helping partners and guests
  • Provide a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere

Those serving as ushers enjoy fellowship with each other, our Northside family, and all guests. They are available to provide any assistance necessary to make worship during our weekend services meaningful.

Information Table

We provide visitors and partners with general information regarding Northside Community Church. The information officer arranges the tables in a pleasing layout so people can learn about NCC and our ministry opportunities. Sign up sheets are also located on this central table.

Hospitality / Snack

This group helps set-up and provide refreshments, catering, and decorations for weekend services, parties, luncheons, dinners, and other special events. The goal is to create a warm and inviting atmosphere for fellowship and connecting.

Creative Arts

We have several ministries within the Creative Arts umbrella. Each team uniquely serves Northside in a variety of ways, including participation in events and services for all major holidays, weekend services, outreaches and missions, and larger ministry activities. All members of this ministry are volunteers. Creative Arts utilizes dance, drama, writing, art, signing and other creative aspects to bring worship to God. Any NCC ministry or group within the church may request a performance from the Creative Arts Coordinator to help supplement their event.

Once a year the Creative Arts teams host and participate in an annual Night of Worship Through the Arts program. This gives another venue of worship for our church family as well as serves as an outreach to the greater community. This ministry is comprised of visual artists, actors, and dancers who seek to use their God-given talents to promote the Word of God in a unique, creative and inspiring manner.

Men's Ministry / Retreat

The men's ministry is a group that meets monthly or bimonthly for fellowship, Bible study, activities, etc. They also coordinate the annual church yard sale as well as raising money for our young people to go to Camp Dixie.

This group takes an annual retreat together – a spiritual maturity weekend. It is a chance for men to grow deeper in their walk with the Lord, and to connect with other men who are growing in their faith. The once a year retreat takes place in or around NC. The activities include worship, teaching, breakout sessions, small group experience, recreation, and the enjoyment of spending time away with like-minded men in a relaxed setting. Attending the annual Promise Keepers Convention is a favorite for the men's group.

Women's Ministry / Retreat

The women's ministry is a group that meets monthly or bimonthly for fellowship, Bible study, activities, etc. They also coordinate an annual community fundraiser as well as raising money for local and foreign missions.

Outlet shopping is a national pastime for our women's group.

Children's Ministry

The purpose of the children's ministry is to provide an environment where children can learn about God and apply biblical truths to their lives. We utilize the Pioneer Kids Club Program which provides groups for all children. The groups are as follows:
  • Scooter – Ages 4 – Kindergarten
  • Voyager – Grades 1 – 2
  • Pathfinder – Grades 3 – 4
  • Trailblazer – Grades 5 – 6

The privilege to show and teach the love of God to children is a precious opportunity and one our teachers and assistants hold with honor and appreciation.

Communications / Visuals Team Ministry

The communications and visuals ministry exists to provide creative and visual elements to the worship services and outreach material that NCC produces. This group coordinates announcements on the screen, Media Shout, video, and produces media that promotes and enhances Northside's worship services and marketing.

Recreation Ministry

The Recreation Ministry exists: to reach out to our community and partners in a casual setting to testify to the Gospel of God's grace, to encourage participation in recreation, leisure, and sports activities which strengthen church and family ties as well as spiritual, emotional, physical, and social well-being. Our recreation program is open to anyone at NCC and community members we are reaching out to. Team sports such as softball, basketball, and coed softball are favorites. We also have a coed volleyball team, activities such as church paintball, skiing, white water rafting, & theme park outings, as well as our annual BIG Weekend at Camp Dixie.
