In 2002 Adrian Dixon and two other recent college grads moved to Eastern Wake County to begin planting a church that would reach those who had no church home or church affiliation. Over the last seven years, Northside Community Church has grown from three individuals to over 140 attenders.
Northside Community Church is now writing the next chapter in its story, as you'll see below. Located just outside of our state’s capital, the congregation is uniquely positioned to not only have an impact in this community but in the Triangle area. The strategy is simple but compelling. Create relevant environments where people desire to love God and love others. We want to mobilize groups of passionate Christ-followers to give their lives away in service to God and have a transforming impact on every aspect of culture.
And that’s what Northside Community Church is all about. So what can you expect? A casual atmosphere with sincere worship, messages you can take with you, a dedicated children’s center, and some of the best people you will ever meet. Whatever your circumstances—single, married, single again, with or without children—and no matter where you’ve been or what you’ve done, you matter to God and you matter to us.
Here's a look at where we've been, and where we're headed:
We have worshipped in the following facilities throughout our history:
February '02 - July '03 / Ace Hardware Building in the Wal-Mart Shopping Center
August '03 - May '05 / Harper Park Community Center
June - August '05 / Forrestville Road Recreation Center
September '05 - Currently / Little Village Shopping Center
In June of 2007, Northside Community Church completed its acquisition of 30 acres of property located on Buffaloe Road in Knightdale, just 2.5 miles East of I-540.
In 2011, feeling led by the Lord, the Church Elders began exploring the feasibility of Northside purchasing the old Knigthdale United Methodist Church building on First Avenue. After several months of prayer, study and dialogue with our congregation, Northside entered in to a contract to purchase the property in December 2011. Several months of renovation will begin in December 2011, with hopes of Northside moving to the new location in early Spring 2012. The existing property on Buffaloe Road is on the market, and once sold, will provide Northside with the necessary resources for even greater expansion on the new First Avenue campus. With God's continued blessings and provision, we are excited about the ministry we will provide in our new location in the Heart of Knightdale.
Even as the church has continued to reach out to the eastern Wake County area, we are committed to not larger growth but to individual growth of disciples for Jesus Christ. We invite you and your family to become an active part of what God is doing here at Northside Community Church.
